Michael Doe, DVM
Dr. Doe has owned Good Samaritan Veterinary Hospital since 1985. He is a graduate of UC Davis Veterinary School and his internship included concentrations in dermatology, ophthalmology, and board certified surgery. Dr. Doe's wife, Ruth Doe, is also a veterinarian, and she directs the Nob Hill Cat Clinic in San Francisco. They share their home with 4 active dogs, 3 indoor cats, and 2 outdoor cats. Dr. Doe has always been passionate about animals and veterinary medicine, and he knew, even as a young child, that he would be a veterinarian. He loves to stay active and enjoys yoga, skiing, mountain biking and wind surfing.
Alice Eklof, DVM
Dr. Eklof has been an associate veterinarian at Good Samaritan since 2004. Dr. Eklof grew up in Southern California and graduated from U.C. San Diego in 1999 with a B.S. in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. She obtained her D.V.M. from Michigan State University in 2003 and then completed a small animal rotating internship at a specialty hospital in Tuscon, AZ. She lives in Oakland with her husband and three cats: Simon, Garfunkel, and Tippy. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, skiing, running, and reading.
Mary Leeking, DVM
Dr. Mary Leeking officially joined our staff in August of 2009. We are delighted to call her our own! Dr. Leeking grew up in Southern California and did her undergraduate work at UC Santa Cruz. She graduated from vet school at UC Davis in 1992 and has practiced in Northern California ever since. She has served as Vice President for the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association for two years. She lives in Oakland with her husband and three cats: Timmy, Nutmeg, and Oscar. In her free time, she enjoys biking, gardening, and cooking.
April has worked here at Good Samaritan for twenty years! She is a very experienced technician and takes a real personal interest in all of her patients. She was born in Hawaii and moved to San Leandro in 1990. April has two dogs, Cameo & Ruby, and two cats, Sherman & Jeffrey. In her spare time she enjoys baking, sewing, and spending time with her niece.
Becky started at Good Samaritan right after she graduated high school in 1993, making her a member of our “20 Year Club”! She grew up in the Bay Area and currently lives in Hayward with her dog, Noly. Becky worked with us through college and remained with us even after earning her teaching credential. She has been teaching elementary school in the Hayward School District for almost 20 years now. Becky is a history buff, and she also enjoys reading and traveling.
Betty will be a familiar face to you if you usually come in on Saturdays. Betty has worked at Good Sam since 2006. She also works full-time for the San Lorenzo School District. Betty was born and raised in San Lorenzo but lived in Alaska where she was a veterinary receptionist for 14 years. While she lived in Alaska, she was a volunteer for the Iditarod sled dog race. Betty's interests include reading, crocheting, going to movies, and spending time with family.
Christmas (Chris) has worked at Good Sam since 2001 and worked with animals for five years prior to joining our family. She grew up in the East Bay and currently lives in Alameda. She has two adorable boys who keep her very busy. A hermit crab, Shelly, completes their family. She enjoys spending time outdoors with family.
Daisy has been with the Good Sam Family since 2011 . She has worked in the veterinary field for 12 years and has been a licensed technician for 11 years. Daisy was born and raised in the Bay Area and currently lives in Hayward with her husband, 7-year-old son, and a 3-year-old daughter. She has her cat, Ty-Ty, and 2 dogs, Coco and Rex, that complete the family. Daisy enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with her family, and spoiling her children.
Debbie has worked in the veterinary field since 1992 and has been at Good Sam since August 2013. Debbie was born in England, and her family moved to the Bay Area when she was 10. She raised her 2 children in Castro Valley and currently lives in Alameda. She has a kitty named Sydney. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and visiting her 4 grandchildren.
Hope has worked at Good Samaritan for over 20 years. She is a receptionist and also on the management team. Hope grew up in Michigan and now lives in Castro Valley with her husband and college-aged sons. They have 2 dogs, Hector and Roxie, and 2 cats, Buster and Dwight. Hope enjoys paper crafting , reading, traveling, and camping.
Janet has been a receptionist at Good Sam since 1994. She was born and raised in Oakland and lives in San Leandro with her husband. They have five grown children and are enjoying being grandparents to ten grandchildren. They have a darling cat named Thumper. Janet enjoys backpacking, swimming, hiking, and participating in her church's food ministries.
Jeremy has been with us since June of 2015. Prior to that, he was the Animal Care Coordinator at the Oakland SPCA. Jeremy was born and raised in Southern California and has lived in Oakland for the past 6 years. He has a dog and a cat, Pasha and Mayhem. In his spare time, Jeremy enjoys bike riding, writing, and cooking.
Mike is Good Sam's Technician Supervisor and Practice Manager. He manages the technician staff, oversees many of the hospital's business operations, and is our general "go-to" guy. Mike started at Good Sam as a kennel worker when he was just a teenager and has worked here for over 30 years. He is a Registered Veterinary Technician. He also worked for many years in a busy emergency hospital. That experience is invaluable when pets come to us in crisis. Mike volunteers at the Hayward Animal Shelter. He is a huge hockey fan and attends as many Sharks games as he can. He also enjoys concerts, A's games, and spending time with family and friends. Mike is a native of the East Bay and currently lives in Dublin.
Susan has worked at Good Sam since November 2006. She grew up in Walnut Creek and has been a life-long pet owner. She currently has a dog named Minnie, 2 cats (Scooter and Stubby), 5 rats, and a box turtle. She is very active in her church, Holy Cross Episcopal, in Castro Valley. She lives in Castro Valley with her husband and daughter and son.
Vickie has worked at Good Sam since August of 2014. She worked in the veterinary field for 2 years before coming to us. Vickie has a BS in Wildlife and Fish Conservation Biology. She lives in Oakland. She has 2 dogs named Macho and Boba and a cat named Beary. Vickie enjoys traveling, hiking, making new friends, and seeing people happy.
